The Lancashire Forum is a peer network and business masterclass programme.

It’s designed to inspire and foster a culture which supports and brings together ambitious growth businesses and provides knowledge and support from Lancaster University and its network.

Its purpose is to provide an environment of knowledge, trust, information and interaction to support SMEs driving for growth.

The Programme:

The programme is delivered to a cohort of 25-30 owner-managers over a six month period.

It includes the following elements:

  • Overnight experiential
  • 4 x Inspirational evening masterclasses & networking
  • 3 x Half day strategic planning sessions
  • 2 x Half day expert panel sessions on topics such as finance and marketing

Membership of the Forum will offer owner-managers the following benefits:

  • An opportunity to build a relationship with the Lancaster University Management School, the wider university and its’ network of associates
  • Space to step back from the business and develop strategic growth plans in a trusted and supportive environment
  • Access to a meaningful network of SME peers, large businesses, HEIs, finance and business support providers and policy makers to share business development ideas, explore new concepts
  • Enhance skills, knowledge and competences to enable the development of innovative and sustainable practices in business, which in turn will lead to business productivity and growth
  • Access to collaborative opportunities, finance, cutting edge research, additional business support programmes, student talent, university IP and networks

Based around Lancaster University's Management School with links into world–leading thinkers and practitioners, the Forum will inspire and support businesses on their innovation journey. This will be done through:

  • Access to a network of committed like-minded peers in a trusted environment
  • Inspirational Masterclasses
  • Facilitated group sessions to embed learning
  • Innovative networking lunches and dinners
  • Interactive panel sessions and workshops
  • Social media technologies to enhance and encourage information exchange

The next cohort will start in July 2014 and will run until January 2015.

Application Process

One of the key elements of the Lancashire Forum is the network of like-minded peers and the unique trusted environment to foster open innovation. With this in mind we have a structured application process to ensure the programme’s success.

Stage 1 - Preview Days

Preview days provide an ideal opportunity to find out more about the programme, ask questions and meet other business owners/managers.

We will be holding preview sessions at the end of November for our next cohort due to start in the new year.

Stage 2 - Submit an Application Form

If the Lancashire Forum is an appropriate programme for the owner/manager and business, the next step is to fill out an application form and submit this back to Lancaster University Management School.

Stage 3 - Informal Group Interview

If the applicant is eligible and has growth aspirations they will be invited to a group interview and then if deemed suitable offered a fully funded place on the programme.
