What top tips would you give to a business owner embarking on a growth plan?

The main top tips are:

Always have a plan, it doesn’t need to be a 10,000 word document, just enough information for you to be able to plan quarterly activities and enough detail so you can monitor some KPI’s on a monthly basis.

  • Make sure that you have an aligned management team, that has had input into developing the plan and is fully bought into its objectives.
  • This team needs to take ownership of the plan and close the actions down. This team also needs to be capable of questioning the plan and whether its direction may need to change.
  • Sales and marketing departments need to have their own plan. These plans should align to the corporate strategy.
  • Each month actions need to be monitored and every quarter the plans need to be reviewed in case they need to change.

Why is Lancashire a great place to grow a business?

Having lived in Lancashire all my life and then worked in most areas of the UK and all over the world, you start to appreciate the bond there is between companies and business support. There is a sense of comradery and a commitment to make this county even better.

Lancashire is recognised in the UK as a leading area of manufacturing and steering the way in new technologies.
