A new recruitment company that helps mechanical and electrical engineers find work has started up in Haslingden and expects to create jobs after receiving free business support and funding from Boost Business Lancashire.

Tozer Associates started trading in March and has already placed over 30 engineers into skilled jobs in the North West.

Director Jim Tozer was able to access free coaching and mentoring through the Lancashire LEAP programme. He also attended a series of free bootcamps that provide attendees with knowledge essential to running a new business, such as how to access finance and create a business plan. Lancashire LEAP is delivered by Regenerate Pennine Lancashire and Winning Pitch for Boost Business Lancashire, the £7.2m Lancashire Growth Hub.

Tozer Associates also accessed match funding to help with advertising costs and the development of the database system essential for recruitment.

As a result, Tozer Associates expect to create three jobs in the next two years.

Jim Tozer said: “The LEAP programme was very well run with experienced bootcamp leaders who ran what were very engaging sessions. I noticed there were a range of other business owners attending and they did well to personalise the workshops to everyone. The support and finance has given us direction to grow and take on new staff in future.”

Lancashire LEAP can offer a new business a wide variety of free, specialised support to get it off the ground. Support includes coaching, international trade, HR, finance and mentoring support. To apply for support, complete our online form or call 0800 488 0057.
