This full day masterclass will introduce ideas and principles to owners, directors and senior managers from manufacturing and engineering companies who want to improve the business performance in terms of service, quality cost and delivery.

It will explore the history of lean manufacturing and the 5 lean principles and will also look at identifying and eliminating the 8 wastes.

Outcomes:

  • An understanding of the history of lean manufacturing
  • A knowledge of how lean manufacturing applies to the organisation
  • An awareness of the difference between work and waste and how moving from a push process to a pull process significantly reduces inventory, lead times and cost through increased productivity

Presenter – Stuart Mitton

This masterclass will be delivered by Stuart Mitton who spent 15 years working in senior management positions in the automotive industry which included Rolls-Royce and Bentley Motor Cars.

Stuart has developed a vast knowledge, understanding, and ability to practically apply expertise in lean tools & techniques and leadership behaviours used in the Toyota Production System both in Production and Office environments. Stuart has been a Team Leader with the Manufacturing Advisory Service for a number of years and has experience in a range of sectors including Aerospace, Formula 1, Pottery and Ceramics, Polymers and Plastics, Paper and Print, Food and Drink, Construction and Public sector environments.

Throughout his career, he has held positions from, Supervisor and Team Leader to Production Manager, Product Marketing Manager and Operations Director.

Teaching and Learning Methods

This masterclass will be taught through a mix of visual (slides) interactive group discussion and a hands on Lean simulation exercise.
