Lancashire family businesses sought for new support scheme

Family board meeting

Starting this summer, eight family businesses in Lancashire and Cumbria will be offered an unrivalled opportunity to gain external support and expertise from successful business leaders in the region. The Be the Business Advisory Board Programme has been set up to get businesses working together to improve productivity.

Meeting regularly over the course of a full year, business leaders will have a chance to talk though their issues and challenges with a ‘board’ of successful senior managers from companies such as Peel Airports Group, Cisco and CYBG. The Advisory Board Programme is targeted at businesses who don’t yet have a formal board structure in place but would welcome the chance to call on non-executive director style input on issues that are important to them.

This could be things such as transitioning leadership, new products and markets, planning for growth, dealing with risk or raising funds. Advisory Boards will also challenge business leaders to interrogate their strategies, help develop their confidence in decision-making and significantly enhance their professional networks.

If your business would be interested in taking part in the Be the Business Advisory Board Programme, please get in touch at familybusiness@bethebusiness.com. There is no financial cost to participation, although business leaders will need to commit to attending a quarterly meeting and producing some reporting information. The closing date for expressions of interest is August 5th.

About Be the Business Supported and funded by the UK government and some of Britain’s leading companies, Be the Business was launched in 2017 to propagate and amplify business success through a range of innovative programmes.

The Family Business Programme, delivered in partnership with the North West Business Leadership Team, aims to help the region’s family run firms become the best in the UK.
