Be the Business is a joint venture between government and big business, set up to investigate the best ways to make improvements in leadership and management capability within small and medium sized firms in the UK.

Be the Business Boards offer small businesses non-executive director-style support from a group of experienced businesspeople, made up of leaders and senior managers from leading firms.

Over the course of 12 months, you can benefit from their guidance on finance, marketing, operations, HR or other specialist areas.

Who is it for?

The programme is for leaders of small and medium Lancashire-based businesses, regardless of sector. It is most suitable for businesses with five or more employees. More than one member of the leadership team can join the meetings, so long as the main decision maker is involved.

How does it work?

  1. You’ll be paired with a board to work with over the course of one year. This programme is best suited to business leaders with five employees or more who have been trading for at least one year.
  2. You’ll attend a virtual induction event, giving you the opportunity to meet other participants.
  3. You’ll attend online meetings every three months to talk through challenges and gain input.
  4. You’ll identify actions to help move your business forward and will report back to your board for accountability and guidance.
