Lancashire’s Business Growth Hub

Boost is Lancashire’s Business Growth Hub, one of 41 Growth Hubs in the UK. It is led by Lancashire County Council, supported by the Department for Business and Trade, and has supported over 20,000 businesses since 2013, helping to create over 3,700 jobs while adding over £100m to the Lancashire economy.

In your corner: how Boost helps businesses

Boost’s Business Support Helpdesk offers Lancashire business leaders funded access to a dedicated team that helps them reach the right support, at the right time.

Whether you’re looking for funding, want to improve operations, or are simply unsure where to start, the Helpdesk team will understand your business ambitions and challenges and connect you to the best support programmes or organisations for your needs.

We have strong relationships with hundreds of local, regional and national support providers so we can help you access mentoring, training, finance, innovation support and more.

Boost also runs fully-funded programmes on targeted areas of business growth throughout the year. These are delivered by expert local partners and focus on areas such as business leadership, scaling up, planning and innovation. Keep an eye on the Boost website and our social media channels for news about these.

Finger on the pulse

Boost’s website is also a valuable resource for growing businesses. The Knowledge Hub features a range of expert insights and guides on key areas of business growth, including building resilience, understanding your finances and getting to grips with AI, while our newsroom features all the latest business growth updates from across Lancashire.

Our events page also showcases key business growth events happening in Lancashire. Boost’s business support partners work with us to list their events on our page and we regularly have over 40 listed across the county in any one month. It’s a great starting point if you’re looking to grow your network or expand your knowledge.

12 years of success

There are dozens of success stories on our website of Lancashire businesses who have used Boost support to help them grow since we launched, whether that’s expanding internally, opening a new space, recruiting new staff or taking a new product to market.

Just a few examples are:

  • South Ribble-based animal feed manufacturer R&E Bamford, which is expanding internationally following support from Boost and the Department for Business and Trade
  • Lingwood Security, based in Heysham, which has expanded nationally, recruiting more than 100 new staff since Boost’s support around five years ago
  • Growing Preston accountancy firm Flower Accounting – now employing eight full-time staff after support from Boost when the business was launched in 2020.

You can read about these and other stories from business across the county on our newsroom.
