Boost’s Flying Start workshops are for people with a business idea they want to turn into a reality.

Business Start-up Essentials is the first in a series of three Boost Flying Start workshops and an opportunity for entrepreneurs to build new and develop existing business skills.

Our face-to-face workshops are lead by an experienced business coach and you will work with like-minded people and have the chance to discuss and develop your new business idea.

All three events are listed below. What you take from each workshop and how you implement the learning is driven by you!

Boost Flying Start: Business Start-up Essentials

Join us to learn more about how to get started in business. This workshop covers:

  • Why is starting a small business important to you.
  • What is your business idea? (foundation for business plan, shifting perspective, and learning how to pitch and read the room).
  • What’s important to consider for a sustainable small business, how else to generate revenue? (being creative, thinking of numerous ways to generate revenue, engagement and taking on feedback).
  • Which business structure is best (making commercial decisions, sharing past experience, visualisation of business launching).
  • Key partners to help launch and grow the business.

Boost Flying Start: S.M.A.R.T Marketing for new business

Discover a range of helpful insights to help you get started with your marketing strategy:

  • How to identify and tailor your message to a specific customer/market segment.
  • How to build a customer profile.
  • What is the customer profile for core product/service? (collaboration, inflection, shifting perspective).
  • What is my Value Proposition (Questions and thoughts on Value Proposition).
  • RACE Marketing Strategy.
  • Indirect Marketing Action (ideas and tools for effective content marketing).

  • Operating Expense vs. Cost of Sales (COGS).
  • How to record business expenses and sales.

  • How the way you are paid and your policies/operations can impact cashflow.
  • What tax to pay on profits.

Please note, participants are required to register and attend to all three workshops.

Boost’s Flying Start service is aimed at ambitious future business leaders, with a focus on building business acumen and to acquire and apply the core skills required to establish the business and drive sustainable business growth amidst a changing economic and business landscape.

The service is targeted at pre-start businesses and anyone who has been trading for less than three years. You must have an ambition to succeed and be ready to make the next steps to creating a successful business.

Businesses within the following partner local authority areas can access this service: Blackburn with Darwen Council, Burnley Council, Chorley Council, Fylde Council, Hyndburn Borough Council, Pendle Borough Council, Preston City Council, South Ribble Borough Council, West Lancashire Borough Council and Wyre Council.
