This year’s Scaleup Annual Review, a key guide to the UK’s scale-up business community, has been launched by the ScaleUp Institute.

The ScaleUp Annual Review 2020 gives a picture of scale-ups’ key contribution to the UK economy and also highlights 10 wide-ranging recommendations for the Government and business community to help scale-ups continue their high growth trajectory.

These include helping scale-up businesses to better engage in peer-to-peer networks and aligning funding to local scale-up initiatives, to create local scale-up hubs in every locality.

ScaleUp Annual Review 2020 was launched on Tuesday (November 17) with the #GoodMorningScaleUps virtual event which heard from business and public sector scale-up experts from around the UK.

Amin Vepari, programme manager, Two Zero, represented the Lancashire scale-up community at the event. He discussed the progress of the Two Zero initiative since its launch in January.

“We started almost a year ago with our dedicated programme and it was about creating a platform which works with key local stakeholders.

“We have just finished some of our initial pilot programmes working with around 40 fast-growing businesses. We’re finding that rather than just the 20 per cent sustained growth companies need to be considered a scale-up, many are on a growth trajectory of 50-60 per cent per year.”

Amin also highlighted the role of Boost, Lancashire’s Business Growth Hub in the scale-up community.

“A lot of the success has been working with our Growth Hub. It’s meant that we have not needed to reinvent the wheel and we have had really positive feedback from those involved.”
