The Flying Start Team at Boost Lancashire will be on hand at this workshop in South Ribble to talk you through the basics of business financial management. Boost Flying Start workshops are for people with a business idea they want to turn into a reality.

Financial Management for SMEs is the second in a series of three Boost Flying Start workshops and an opportunity for entrepreneurs to build new and develop existing business skills.

Our workshops are led by an experienced business coach and you will work with like-minded people and have the chance to discuss and develop your new business idea.

Join us to learn how to manage your business finances!

In this workshop you will learn:

  • Why is financial management important
  • Operating Expense vs. Cost of Sales (COGS)
  • How to record business expenses and sales
  • What to consider with business expenses
  • How the way you are paid and your policies/operations can impact cashflow
  • What tax to pay on profits
  • Have new confidence and tools to help manage business finances more effectively
  • Project costs and sales more to help with investment, projects, and fundraising
  • Understand your basic tax and reporting obligations as a sole trader, touching briefly on Ltd companies.

This workshop will be delivered face to face by our Flying Start Adviser – Lateef Badat.

Boost’s Flying Start service is aimed at ambitious future business leaders, with a focus on building business acumen and to acquire and apply the core skills required to establish the business and drive sustainable business growth amidst a changing economic and business landscape.

The service is targeted at pre-start businesses and anyone who has been trading for less than three years. You must have an ambition to succeed and be ready to make the next steps to creating a successful business.

Businesses within the following partner local authority areas can access this service: Blackburn with Darwen Council, Burnley Council, Chorley Council, Fylde Council, Hyndburn Borough Council, Pendle Borough Council, Preston City Council, South Ribble Borough Council, West Lancashire Borough Council and Wyre Council.
