Centre for SME & Enterprise Development Business Breakfast Networking Event

February 04, 2026

08:00 - 10:30

Preston

Centre for SME & Enterprise Development, University of Lancashire

Environmental, Social, Governance, (ESG), for SMEs: Stop Guessing, Start Implementing Join us for an inspiring breakfast event designed to empower SMEs with practical tools, insights, and opportunities to grow and innovate.

Small businesses are being told to "do ESG"—but nobody is explaining what this actually means in practice. We're delighted to be joined by our very own Dr Stephen Haraldsen, Senior Lecturer in Executive Education, and Martin Brelsford, Sales Director, NORi HR for this fast-paced session which will aim to cut through the noise and show you why ESG, (Environmental, Social, Governance), matters for SMEs, what’s changing in UK employment law, and exactly how to get your business ready without wasting time or money.

Who should attend?
Business owners with 1–50 employees
Anyone responsible for HR, compliance, or staff SMEs aiming for government or supply chain contracts
Leaders who know they need proper policies but don’t know where to start

And as always, at our events, you'll hear about the latest business support available from the University of Lancashire, including information about internships and how you can recruit our talented students and graduates. We do hope you are able to join us and 50+ SME Centre for SME & Enterprise Development members, as we aim to pave the way for a brighter future for you and your business.
