Lancaster University Management School is pleased to welcome H. E. Václav Bartuška, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the Court of St James’s, who will deliver a seminar exploring the future of Europe’s energy security. Recent geopolitical developments – including Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and instability in the Middle East – have exposed significant vulnerabilities in Europe’s energy systems.
In this talk, Ambassador Bartuška will reflect on how these events are reshaping the continent’s energy landscape and consider whether Europe now faces the need for a fundamental rethink of its energy strategy. Before taking up his role as Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Bartuška served for almost two decades as the Czech Republic’s Special Envoy for Energy Security.
Drawing on this extensive experience, he will share insights into the strategic, economic and political challenges shaping Europe’s energy future. This seminar will be of interest to members of the business community, policymakers, Lancaster University staff, and students interested in geopolitics, energy policy and international affairs..
