Dr. Charlotte Smith is an environmental scientist with over a decade of experience using spatial data to answer critical questions about the world’s forests. Her research has focused on mapping secondary forest growth across the Amazon, using remote sensing to understand forest recovery and change. She now works at the intersection of science, technology, and supply chains, applying data-driven tools to help tackle deforestation and support more transparent forest product markets.

World Forest ID brings together cutting-edge environmental science and technology to turn the natural chemical fingerprints of wood and other forest-connected commodities into actionable evidence for international regulatory compliance. We have built a scalable digital platform that translates complex scientific signals into clear, defensible origin assessments, enabling verification of claimed product origin without needing to trace complex supply chains. By acting as the bridge between advanced science and real-world decision-making, this technology helps tackle deforestation, protect biodiversity, and support climate action by keeping illegal and unsustainable timber out of global markets.
