Preston Tech Connection: Web3 Is Dead. Or Is It?

July 29, 2025

18:00 - 19:30

Preston

Society1, Coworking Space

Preston Tech Connectionis a group centred around an interest in digital technologies. We meet monthly to discuss interesting and topical subjects. Our July topic is 'Web3 Is Dead. Or Is It?'.

We will explore whether blockchain and crypto tech still have a future beyond hype, and where real use cases are emerging (e.g. in gaming, identity, finance). Join us this month for a panel discussion that digs into one of the most controversial questions in tech today: Is Web3 a failed experiment—or just getting started? With the hype train slowing down and crypto markets cooling off, it’s the perfect time to take a clear-eyed look at where blockchain, crypto, and decentralized tech really stand in 2025. Is there still a future for Web3 beyond coins, speculation, and buzzwords? Or is it time to move on?

Our panel of builders, sceptics, and curious minds will explore: ·
What Web3 promised vs. what it delivered
· Real-world use cases that are actually working (or not)
· The future of decentralized identity, finance, and gaming
· How developers can make sense of the noise

Expect a relaxed evening with good conversation, open Q&A, and the usual mix of techies, founders, and folks just here to learn. Whether you're deep in the chain or just chain-curious, you’re welcome!
