Trading with Japan

February 23, 2024

10:00 - 15:00

Preston

North & Western Lancashire Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the University of Central Lancashire and the Department for Business and Trade would like to invite both existing and new exporters to join us to learn about trading with Japan.

Why trade with Japan – Japan is currently the third largest economy in the world. With our free trade agreement, we have entered an exciting new chapter in trading relations between the UK and Japan. As a stable country with a large, wealthy, and highly educated consumer market, premium high-quality goods and services are in demand. Japanese companies are also extremely loyal and open to building long-term business relationships with U.K. suppliers.

Businesses aiming to enter or expand in Japan may find differences in social and business customs daunting. To support your journey, we will be joined by a series of guest speakers including:

  • Lancashire companies with experience of trading in the region.
  • Department for Business and Trade who have recently returned from a trade mission representing the Northern Powerhouse.
  • JETRO, or the Japan External Trade Organization, is a government-related organization that works to promote mutual trade and investment between Japan and the rest of the world. JETRO’s core focus in the 21st century has shifted toward promoting foreign direct investment into Japan and helping small to medium size Japanese firms maximize their global export potential.
  • Ministers from the Japanese Embassy in London.
  • North & Western Lancashire Chamber on support for business.
  • UCLan and their cultural connections with Japan.

There will be an exhibition space with stalls for service providers in the International Trade Sector.

A hot buffet lunch will be provided.

Cost for attendance: £15 per person.
