Business leaders invited to ‘transformative’ event to address barriers to women leading Lancashire companies

Men and women from Lancashire’s business community are being invited to a visionary event which will assess the barriers to gender equity in enterprise and leadership across the county.

The event is being held in response to the Growing Women, Growing Lancashire report, which was released in 2022 and funded by Lancashire County Council. The report assessed the barriers in the Lancashire and UK economy for women in leadership positions and offered recommendations to address these.

The event, which is sponsored by PM + M Accountants, Wyre Borough Council and Daisy Communications, will see participants engage in round table discussions and group feedback sessions to continue flying the flag for change in our region.

Findings of the report will be discussed at the event and discussion invited about next steps. There will also be a great opportunity to network with likeminded Lancashire business leaders over a buffet lunch.

Wendy Bowers, co-author of the Growing Women, Growing Lancashire report, is helping with the event’s organisation.

She said: “The number of women in enterprise and leadership in the county and across the UK is growing, but much more needs to be done. We need measurement, strategy, an understanding of the differences between male and female career and business journeys and a coordinated and joined up approach to support.
