Dr Dunni is an award winning mum empowerment coach, family doctor and CEO of Druwa Academy, a platform helping mothers to step out of overwhelm, exhaustion and burnout into the energised and empowered version of themselves.

A global influencer and international speaker, Dr Dunni shares her own inspirational Lancashire woman in business story.

What does your business do?

Motherhood is beautiful yet can be challenging especially, because mothers have multiple roles. Druwa Academy helps mothers to stop feeling stressed, exhausted and burnt out by using practical holistic wellbeing tactics and strategies to be more productive and energised.

This is made available via books, my podcast (Wellbeing 4 Mothers), online courses, speaking events, group coaching and membership programmes.

Why did you start your own business?

The business came from a need to empower more mothers who are struggling with stress and overwhelm. I understood what it felt like to be in that state of overwhelm because a few years ago, that was me – grieving the loss of my father, working full time and caring for my children.

And I did not want other mothers to go through that. The practical strategies I developed and utilised through that process have since been used by mothers globally with remarkable results.

What has been your biggest business breakthrough?

There have been multiple business breakthroughs but the one I really cherish is the one that started the snowball effect. It was when my book Every Mum Is A Supermum: Breaking Free from overwhelm and exhaustion became a bestseller.

This meant that the book was getting across to more women. This was great and enabled me to become an international speaker empowering mothers on multiple platforms globally.

What has been your proudest achievement in your business?

I was exceedingly delighted to be the recipient of the SMBN ‘Excellence in Marketing’ award but the proudest achievement is seeing the mothers I support moving from feeling overwhelmed and burnt out to having more energy, being more productive and enjoying holistic wellbeing.

What is the most effective support or guidance you have received?

Having a coach who guided me through those areas I needed support with was crucial especially as someone who was quite introverted and did not want to bother others. The most important guidance I received was speaking up and asking for opportunities.

What keeps you going when things are tough?

Having a strong belief has been a strong factor that keeps me going during tough times. In addition to that, I have been able to remember why I started the business and the impact it would have on the lives of the mothers and their loved ones.

What are your best three tips for maintaining your wellbeing?

My ethos is strongly rooted in wellbeing and I have found these three tips most helpful:

  1. Remember to take regular breaks.
  2. Make the activities you do fun and enjoyable.
  3. Do not stay alone. Go out and network with like-minded people even if you are a sole member of your business.

What advice would you give to a female entrepreneur starting a business?

Starting a business is an act of service. It is important to remember that it is not a sprint but a marathon. Take consistent steps daily and the result will be inevitable. Website: www.drdunni.com
