Boost Business Champions: Rebecca McGregor, Kidz Party Bus / The Pamper Bus

The next instalment of our Boost Business Champions series, designed to help business leaders gain insights and advice from others who are growing companies across Lancashire, features Rebecca McGregor, founder and director of Kidz Party Bus and The Pamper Bus.

The two ventures are unique mobile children’s entertainment businesses based in Parbold, West Lancashire, and have received advice and support from Boost on several occasions over the past five years. The company, which employs 12 staff, also received £50,000 funding last year through the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II’s Smaller Loans Fund to support its expansion.

Rebecca discusses her passion for business growth, marketing and what she has learned during her journey to date.

What motivates you in business and why?

I genuinely love what I do. Working with children and seeing the excitement our businesses create is incredibly rewarding. I’m also passionate about growing a business, developing new ideas and creating experiences that people remember. I enjoy the creative side of marketing just as much as building the business itself, and I’m always looking for new ways to improve and evolve.

What is the most rewarding thing about running a business?

Without doubt, it’s seeing the joy on children’s faces when we arrive. Watching families make memories together, hearing the laughter, and receiving hugs and heartfelt thanks at the end of a party reminds us why we do what we do. Knowing we have played a part in creating such special moments is incredibly rewarding.

What has been your biggest lesson learned in business?

Consistency is everything. There will always be challenges and difficult periods, but I’ve learned that if you keep your head down, stay focused, remain consistent and keep moving forward, you will come through the other side stronger. Persistence really does pay off.

What support did you receive from Boost and how has it helped?

Boost has provided us with fantastic support through knowledgeable mentors, valuable business advice and introductions to excellent contacts. The guidance we’ve received has opened new opportunities, helped us make informed decisions and given us the confidence to continue growing our business.

What is the best piece of advice you have received as a business leader?

Believe in your vision. If you genuinely believe in an idea and you’re prepared to work hard for it, then make it happen. Almost anything is achievable with the right mindset, determination and work ethic.

What advice would you give to anyone looking to start and grow a business?

Choose something you’re genuinely passionate about. Running a business requires commitment, resilience and hard work, so you need to enjoy what you do. Passion will help you through the difficult days, and when you enjoy your work, growing the business becomes much more rewarding.

Why is Lancashire a great location for a business?

Lancashire has an incredibly strong sense of community and a supportive business network. It offers access to a diverse customer base, excellent transport links across the North West, and people who genuinely value local businesses and quality experiences. 

There are also fantastic organisations, such as Boost, that actively support businesses to grow and succeed.

Who inspires you in business and why?

Emma Grede and Matt Cook both inspire me in different ways. Emma Grede’s entrepreneurial mindset, innovation and ability to build globally recognised brands demonstrate what’s possible through vision and determination. 

Matt Cook inspires me through his leadership, business growth and practical approach to developing successful businesses. They both show that with hard work, resilience and a clear vision, incredible things can be achieved.
