Prefix Systems enlists Boost mentor to make lasting productivity improvements

Prefix Systems team with loft window The working relationships within the senior management team at Prefix Systems had always been good. However, the expansion of the company meant it was becoming more difficult to maintain cohesion between the production department and office administration. Prefix HR manager Samantha Thompson approached Boost’s Mentoring programme for advice and support.

Boost mentor, John Fisher was then appointed to offer advice and guidance. Samantha said: “John proved to be highly effective, with a natural ability to connect with our senior leaders to spark inspiration and change. “During the sessions, our senior team members discussed various strategies to maximise efficiency and productivity. The support assisted the development of our people and brought about lasting productivity improvements.” By the end of the mentoring, the management team were working effectively together with common goals and defined ownership, which meant the business could adapt to planned changes and move forward. Discover Prefix System’s new approach to management

Fuse Contract Furniture seeks Boost Bespoke coaching to develop a robust growth strategy

Director Danny Ambler - Fuse Furniture - Web banner Director Danny Ambler turned to Boost to improve the output and lead time for Fuse Contract Furniture’s custom-made fittings for hotels and leisure facilities. The Boost Bespoke programme’s business coach Peter Dickson worked with Danny to create a three-year vision for the company. Using business planning tools, they devised plans not just for the core business but also to assess the scope of opportunity through new business streams.

Peter said: “The objective was to help Danny develop a robust growth strategy by reviewing Fuse Contract Furniture’s critical processes, sales targets, cash position, recruitment and leadership. “I then helped Danny to implement this strategy and to include considerations for market expansion, product development and diversification.” Danny said: “The massive increase in turnover is due to more efficiency in processes and operations and an increase in sales. Being able to manage demand more effectively and further reduce the lead time during the manufacturing process is behind this increase.” Read Fuse Furniture’s growth story

Paw Naturel joins the Growth Support Programme to learn about scaling up

Angela Pinder had a great idea for a business. As a professional dog trainer and groomer, she developed her own dog grooming products using natural ingredients. She turned to Boost’s Growth Support Programme and received advice and support from a wide range of services across the programme, including masterclasses to help with her marketing and business planning.

The advice received gave Angela the confidence to set up her own business and develop the Paw Naturel brand with aspirations to recruit three employees and reach a turnover £250,000 over a three year period. Angela said “The support through Boost has been invaluable in helping to set up the business, make sure to pitch it correctly, right from the start, and determining what resources to put in place. The courses were so useful, particularly learning about scaling up and what to do to grow the business."
